This past week, iniisip ko na talagang mag-drop ng isang subject. I hated the subject because of the tons of requirements... I hated the prof coz she always gets angry... then I thought about it.. I can do all the requirements for this subject. I really just hate the way our professor treated us. Pero kanina, thank God, she was really nice. I felt more comfortable after that consultation and I have decided to stick with the subject. Baka sobrang stressed lng tlga siya.. pero I believe talaga that deep down she is really a nice person. Sana po gumaling na kayo ma'am fernandez :D

Since there is no great games recently released, I'm playing Neverwinter Nights and DotA (addict n ko!). These are great games! I think the next game that I will be playing for ps2 would be NBA live 06 which is to be released on late september or early october I think.

UP Activism

I just went home from the despidida party and I was able to talk to Sir Vlad about this issue. Ang galeng nga eh.. pagbasa ko sa blog ni rey nalaman ko agad ung explanation.

We were talking about activism and I asked for his views about a certain issue in UP which doesn't seem to be an issue for me (all about UP financial stuff). Sabi nya, kaya raw sila nagrarally tungkol sa financial status ng UP dahil wla silang ibang issue na "maipaglaban." UP activists are always on the 'against' side of the issue.Why are they always against the issue? They want to keep the spirit of activism alive. Ayaw nila tumahimik dahil bka wlang magsalita. They are afraid that a day will come when we always follow orders. But it's weird.. meron ng mga nagsasalita against the issue pero gusto p rin nila magrally. Bahala sila, I really don't believe in rallying (at least for this issue).

First of all, I think it's very wrong to blame the poor o ang masa. It's not fair so say that they don't have the right to voice out their opinions. A lot of people are not paying their taxes and i mean a LOT: artista, doctor, businessman, abogado, etc. Tingin nyo b ung utang ng mahihirap sa tax eh mas malaki pa sa utang ng mga abusadong mga mayayaman na to?? Only a fraction of what these rich people do not pay ang ndi nababayaran ng masa. so PLEASE don't say that these people should not voice out their opinion. and yes, most of the masses is not educated.. but please dont blame everything on them. gaya ng sabi ng isang comment, madalas ay ginagamit lng sila ng mga tunay na may balak sa gov't. eh kasi mahirap sa knila ang pera at kung tlgang kinakapos k sa pera, wla kang magagawa kundi kumapit sa patalim. that's human nature.

one person commented on the poor being lazy.. i think this is an overgeneralization. think about it. what do jobs require? an education. do you think the gov't has provided a good public education (since it's the only thing the masses can afford)? another thing, it's hard to find a good job here in the phils. a lot of fresh grads are having a hard time finding a job. and these people HAVE an education.. so pano p ung wla? then they have no jobs so they can't afford to go to school.. and the cycle goes on and on. It's a sad thing.

last point, i think it's safe to say that most of us here in this thread have a good education. so please use it! serving the country does not mean a gov't position. u can be a teacher, a janitor, an engineer, a scientist. please don't turn ur back on our country! a lot of people already have... nakakaawa nmn. one person CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. pare kung ganyan tayo lahat mag-isip.. wla tlgang uunlad. our country needs our help. wlang tutulong sa ating mga pilipino kundi tayong mga pilipino. please do your part... wag nyong sabihing babalik n lng ako sa pilipinas kung ok na. it would be better if you helped in the rebuilding process. kung maririnig yan ni rizal ano kayang sasabihin sayo? 'ako nagpakamatay para lng mapalaya ang aking bayan.. serbisyo lng ang hinihingi sayo hindi kamatayan'

Fare Hike

I wanted to post about a lot of stuff these past few days but it is only now that i feel like posting... (what??)

Another fare hike occurred this week. it has been approved a long time ago but it was only implemented last monday(am i right?) due to some petitions of consumer groups. there's nothing we can do about it now but i will stil complain.. hehe :D

They justified this recent fare hike with the oil price increase. If you will ask jeepney drivers about their opinion on the matter, some of them will answer, "mas okay na ung roll back kesa sa magtaas ng pamasahe.. nahihirapan din lng ang mga commuters." This is very true. It is the consumer who suffers from this deal. I really think that drivers and consumers will prefer a roll back over a fare hike. Think about it. In a roll back, the driver and consumer gains or doesn't lose anything but in a fare hike, both parties lose something. Of course the big oil companies won't agree to a roll back because is will lessen their profits. Business is business for them. Companies really care about profit, that's a given fact. Maybe the government could've intervened.. maybe put less tax on diesel, the gasoline most used by jeepney drivers (is there a tax on gas? i think so... am i right? it's still a good...). If the tax is lessened then a roll back can be expected and maybe this fare hike would've been cancelled or delayed at least.

In order for drivers to ba able to collect the new fare, they must have the new fare matrix posted on their jeepneys. Not all drivers are collecting the new fare because of the reason stated above. But some jeepney drivers also collect the new fare without the new fare matrix. When this happens, you might encounter a conversation that goes like this:

passenger: "Nasaan ung taripa mo? Bakit nagtaas k na wla pa nmn?"
driver: "Ganun din naman un eh. 7.50 pa rin ang babayaran nyo."
passenger: "Kahit na. Bawal pa rin yan."
driver: "Eh kung dun kayo sa mga kasamahan ko sumakay eh ganun din ang isisingil sa inyo."
passenger: "Iyan ang hirap sa inyo eh.. mga abusado kayo."
driver: "Sige ho, kunin nyo na lng ung plate no. ko at ireport nyo ko. pasensya na ho nagtataas lng kc ang krudo."

This actually happened to me. I don't like it when arguments happen in a public place especially in a jeepney. I noticed in their conversation the frustration of the driver and the passenger as well. Neither of them like this hike. The lower class up to the middle class are the ones most affected by this hike. These people use public transportation the most. So in essence, this contributes to the already hard life of these people. I, as a student, do not like this as well. I only get a few bucks a day and most of it will be consumed on my transportation (especially in UP where you have to ride the jeep to go around.. luckily, no hike is implemented yet). We can't say that the rich are not affected since they use gasoline for their cars but hey! You're rich!!

There is one thing this driver said that i find unfair... "ok lng ho kung magbabayad kayo ng 7.50 o 6 o kahit 5.50.. sige lng tatanggapin ko." Do I still need to explain why this is unfair? I don't think so. I just pay the new fare hike and avoid an argument. It maybe unfair but I think I got enough in my life. I can spare a piso or two.

New Beginning

It's been so long since my last post. hehe. From now on, i'll try to update everyday because my brother told me so. He said it's a good practice for writing and using English as well. So from now on, i'll try to use english as much as possible. Oh and btw, pardon me if i have bad grammar. Please comment on it so i can learn :).
